Senior citizens are the backbone of our society. Their work and their sacrifices have secured the freedoms which we take for granted today. They make up an increasing part of our population, due in part to living longer not to mention the large group of baby boomers. Unfortunately, the cost of living has increased as well and for many senior citizens. Specifically, drug prescription costs are taking a substantial portion of their social security checks.
While there has been some progress, most recently with Governor Hogan announcing that Maryland will aid state employees transitioning to Medicare Part D, there is still much more to be done. Prescription drug companies should not be able to charge whatever they would like. If elected in November, you can count on me to always be an advocate to our seniors.
